Opening analysis of Titanic:

film overview:
the titanic is a 1997 american epic romantic disaster film directed, written and co-produced and co-edited by James Cameron, it is a fictionalised account based around the actual sinking of the RMS Titanic, it stars Leonardo di caprio and Kate winslet as members of different social classes who eventually fall in love aboard the ship during its ill-fated maiden voyage. Cameron's inspiration for the film came from his fascination for shipwrecks, he said he felt a love story interspersed with the human loss would be essential to showcase the emotional message of the disaster.

on its release on December 19,1997 the Titanic achieved commercial success and critical success, it was even nominated for fourteen awards, it tied with another movie for most Oscar nominations. it had a initial worldwide gross of $1.84 billion - it was the first film to reach the billion mark.

Plot:

In 1996, treasure hunter Brock Lovett and his team aboard the research vessel, they search the wreck of the RMS Titanic for a necklace with a rare diamond, The heart of the ocean. they recover a safe containing a drawing of a young woman, the story then reverts to 1912 Southampton, where a 17-year old first-class passenger and her fiancĂ© and her mother Ruth board the titanic, a series of events eventually lead to the titanic eventually crashing into a iceberg, the romance between jack Dawson (penniless artist) and Rose Dewitt Bukater, and the eventual deaths of many of the people on-board the ship including the captain, the story is a typical tragic romance, almost in a way similar to Romeo and Juliet because the main characters are both played by Leonardo di caprio.
