Codes and conventions of the horror genre:
Charactersthere are many codes and conventions for horror movies, different movies such as Friday the 13th, nightmare on elm street, the Texas chainsaw massacre all have things in common. They are all Slasher movies, and all have blood, gore and killings, and they all have the main antagonist as being a psychopathic killer (Jason Voorhees,Freddy Kruger and Leather face respectively). The characters involve having a female looking typically at herself in the mirror while the killer creeps up on them with it ending typically with them being killed or mutilated horribly.
Location:
the Location of the horror movies can depend on the movie but typically might involve dark, gloomy places such as the woods on a summer camp, or involving a haunted house to add more spook to the movie and further entice the movie. sometimes even a isolated town, or a deserted countryside, to make the movie scarier and add a enigma to the audience. the location of the horror movies also tend to involve a character often warning to stay away from that particular area implying the killers typically nest there and also there is something dangerous there.
