Codes and Conventions of Romance:
the main codes and conventions of romance are that romance films mainly include a male and female falling in love with each other as the main plot line. Another typical convention of the genre of romance is that it is typically aimed at a female audience, often a voice over is used to introduce the love theme. a typical romance genre would also include sexuality, gender, and relationships. usually involves wedding bells, hearts and flowers all of which are symbolic for love/romance.
the heroes/protagonist tends to be men while introducing the typical 'boy meets girl' scenario, throughout the entire movie there are probably hints throughout which suggest that they will be a good 'match' and that there will be a happy ending.
Romance movies also typically involve feelings and emotions involving the protagonists or antagonists where their mother/father died or left for example another is that film directors often use elements from other genres to further entice and convince the audience, for example it might involve action where the male protagonist needs to take action to save the girl he loves and possibly the destruction of the world, therefore it could be a action/romance genre.
the romance genre is also typically aimed at a female audience because of the stereotypical love/romance scenes between the man and the woman, also because normally females are more emotional with those relationships than men.
